It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Deloris Workman, who peacefully left this world on June 20, 2026, at the age of 80, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, on June 5, 1946, Deloris graced the world with her warmth, kindness, and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone she met.
Deloris was the cherished daughter of the late Reverend Bernie Johnson and Elsie Johnson, whose nurturing spirit she carried throughout her life. She was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother, a beloved sister, and a friend to many. Her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Deloris was the beloved mother of Melissa Mullins and Dana Blaylock, who survives her with her boyfriend David. And Michael hanning dana son She joins her son Bobby and his children, Travis, Jeremy, and Samantha, who have gone before her, in eternal rest. Her son Michael Hanning, along with Steven Boylock and his wife Brittany and their daughters, Gracelon and Paisley, continue to honor her legacy. Her daughter Kimberly and her fiancé Grayson are left to cherish her memory, along with her siblings Gen, Ruth, and her brother Paul. Deloris is reunited with her brother James and her dear friends Octopuhey and his wife Sandy, who have also found peace in heaven.
A devoted grandmother, Deloris was blessed with seven grandchildren who were the light of her life. Her nurturing spirit and joyful laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Deloris shared over thirty years of marriage with her ex-husband, Rex Day, with whom she built a family filled with love and cherished memories. Her love for the beach, puzzles, and gathering with her family and grandchildren brought her immense joy and peace.
Known for her sweet nature and boundless love for everyone she met, Deloris was a beacon of warmth and kindness. Her gentle spirit and infectious smile left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a friend to many, including Diane Pauley, Lynn Black, Hannah Blaylock, and Nevada Blaylock, who will miss her dearly. Her landlord, Marlene Solberg, and her husband John also held her in high regard.
As we celebrate the life of Deloris Workman, we remember her not only for the love and joy she brought to our lives but also for the lessons of kindness and compassion she imparted. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit remains vibrant in the hearts of those she touched.
A memorial service to honor Deloris’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories and celebrate the beautiful life she lived. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to cancer research, in hopes of finding a cure and honoring Deloris’s courageous fight.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
