Deloris June Rowland

On July 20, 2026, the world lost a cherished soul as Deloris June Rowland peacefully passed away at Avantara in Huron, South Dakota. Born on May 27, 1938, in the quaint town of Chester, South Dakota, Deloris was a beacon of warmth and kindness throughout her 88 years of life. Deloris was the beloved daughter of Lester and Alice Anderson, who instilled in her the values of compassion and selflessness. She was predeceased by her parents, her infant brother John Anderson, and her brothers-in-law, Miles Hahn, and Clem Schmidt. Despite the heartbreak of losing family members, Deloris always found strength in her faith and family, offering a comforting smile and a helping hand to all who knew her. She is survived by her five children: Charlotte Fredrickson, Alice Hahn, Alan Gillette, Kip Gillette, and Jacqueline Olsen, who were the pride and joy of her life. Deloris's legacy is also carried on by her 15 adoring grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, each blessed by her nurturing spirit and boundless love. A woman of remarkable dedication, Deloris graduated from Chester country school and spent her early years working on the family farm. Her career was marked by her genuine care for others, as she devoted 14 years to the Violet Tschetter Nursing Home and later enriched young lives at Kindernook Preschool until her well-deserved retirement. Deloris's garden was her sanctuary, and she took great pleasure in tending to her flower beds. Her love for nature mirrored the beauty she brought into the lives of others. Known for her radiant smile and compassionate nature, she had an incredible ability to always put others first, making everyone feel valued and loved. A celebration of Deloris's life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Rustland Funeral Home. Her family invites all who knew her to join in honoring her memory and sharing the countless stories of her kindness and grace. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Deloris's spirit of generosity and caring. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Huron Avantara for the kindness and care they showed to Deloris. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
