DELORES YORK SPEARS

January 31, 1978 — September 16, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Delores York Spears, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, who graced the world with her presence on January 31, 1978, in Switzer, West Virginia. A beacon of light and laughter, Delores brought joy and warmth to all who knew her. She was the cherished daughter of Barbara Ann Price and Lewis Harold Spears, both of whom instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and a deep love for family. Delores was a proud graduate of Logan High School, where she cultivated her love for music—a passion that she carried with her throughout her life. Her remarkable ability to recall any song lyric was a testament to her deep appreciation for the art. She loved to sing, and her voice was a soothing balm to those lucky enough to hear it. Her life was a tapestry of love, woven with threads of humor, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her daughter, Ronni McCoy of Switzer, West Virginia. Delores's infectious laugh and radiant smile could light up the darkest room, and her heart was as expansive as the sky. She loved fiercely, often placing the needs of others before her own, and her capacity for love was evident in every act of kindness she performed. Delores's faith was a guiding force in her life, and it was reflected in her actions and her interactions with others. She knew God, and her works were a testament to her belief and dedication to living a life of service and love. She is survived by her beloved daughter Ronni McCoy, her sister Rebecca Johnson, and nephew Levi William Mcclusky Johnson. Though Delores did not have grandchildren, her legacy of love and laughter lives on in the lives she touched. Delores was predeceased by family members who she now joins in eternal rest: Yorkie and Tom Price of Switzer, West Virginia, Barbara Ann Price of Raymond, Illinois, Athaleen and Lewis Harold Spears of Logan, West Virginia, her niece Yorkie Ann Spears, and her Aunt Tammy Tackett. As we celebrate Delores's life, we remember her not only for the joy she brought to others but for the strength and courage she displayed even in the face of her own pain. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will remain alive in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Delores's memory to a charity of one's choice, honoring her generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
