Delores Irene Leuthner (Dode)
August 28, 1935 — June 13, 2026
It is with deep sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of Delores Irene Leuthner, affectionately known as Dode, who passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at New Perspectives in Superior, Wisconsin. Born on August 28, 1935, in the small, welcoming community of Hawthorne, Wisconsin, Dode filled 90 years with love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit.
Dode was the cherished daughter of the late Clyde and Norma Clark. She grew up in a close-knit family with her siblings, and she held fond memories of their shared experiences in Hawthorne. After graduating from East High School in 1953, Dode ventured into the world, where fate brought her to James P. Leuthner. They met in the bustling corridors of Honolulu Airport, and what began as a chance encounter blossomed into a lifelong partnership. After leaving the Navy, they returned home to build a family and a life enriched by love, resilience, and adventure. Their travels took them across most of the United States, creating a tapestry of stories and memories that they cherished together.
Dode's life was marked by the joys and challenges of motherhood. She was a devoted mother to her children, Lori (Les) Heffner, Lisa (Pat) Croatt, Toni (Rich) Lovely, and Todd (Mary) Leuthner, instilling in them the values of kindness and perseverance. Her legacy extends to her beloved grandchildren, Andrea (Josh) Neuman, Jennifer Mattison, Richard James Lovely, and Nicholas Lovely, who carry forward her spirit and strength.
A woman of great warmth and compassion, Dode's life was a testament to the power of family and community. She was predeceased by her loving husband, James, their twin baby boys, Mark and Mike, her brother Russ, and her sisters Beverly and Sharon. Yet, her family remains a testament to her enduring love, with her surviving sister, Sharon's twin, Shelby, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, and a sister-in-law who will all miss her dearly.
Dode's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at New Perspectives, whose kindness and care brought comfort and joy to her in her final days.
As we remember Dode, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a spirit that will continue to inspire those who knew her. We invite family and friends to join us in honoring Dode's memory and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
In this time of remembrance, we hold on to the love she shared and the memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
