With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Delegant G. Wilson, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, on July 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Born on February 1, 1942, in Chicago, IL, Delegant lived a life rich with love, laughter, and contribution, always leaving a lasting impact on those around him. Delegant was the cherished son of John and Mary Wilson. He grew up in Chicago, where he developed a passion for baseball and fishing, hobbies that stayed with him throughout his life. He graduated from Old Prairie School, where he not only excelled academically but also discovered his love for engineering. In 1972, Delegant married the love of his life, Kimberly Anne, and together they built a beautiful family. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love and devotion, a beacon of inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they shared a life of adventure and joy, always finding humor in life’s everyday moments. Professionally, Delegant dedicated his career to U.S. Steel as a civil engineer, where he was known for his expertise, diligence, and the quick wit that endeared him to colleagues and friends alike. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a committed and active member of the 1st Baptist Church of God, where he found solace and community, contributing his time and efforts to various church activities. Delegant’s legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Kimberly Anne, and their son, Joel Wilson (Angie Wilson) two grandchildren, Samantha Wilson and Nyla Wilson, who brought immense joy to his life. He was a man of integrity and compassion, known for his quick wit and the warmth he brought to every room he entered. A service to honor Delegant's life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Gatling Funeral Home, located at 103rd & Halsted. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Delegant are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society - Breast Cancer Fund, reflecting Delegant's commitment to supporting meaningful causes. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has sent flowers and condolences during this difficult time.
