Delbert O. Tyson

Delbert Tyson is the oldest of my siblings. A quiet and humble soul. He possessed a brilliant mind and can solve complex situations. In his formative years he grew up near the ocean and he tried to tame it. He would frequently go spear fishing and return with a bounty of fish and lobster, A beach cookout most certainly will follow thereafter. My brother made sure I had a rich childhood. One of his most endearing qualities was his service to others, always willing to lend a hand when asked for help with anything. He would lay tile and attend plumbing challenges among a variety of home repair assignments. Life for Delbert started in Nevis in the British West Indies, where he was employed as a teacher at the Charlestown Boys School. He emigrated to the US Virgin Islands in the early 1970’s. He soon gained employment the hospitality industry and retail. Soon Thereafter he joined the United States Coast Guard. He relocated to Miami and married the love of his life Jannes Hamilton Tyson. From this union came two sons Darren and Darnell. Delbert was a steady force in my life. He was there every time I moved from one residence to the next. Our fishing and cookout trips will remain with me always. As his health declined he moved from Miami to be closer to his oldest brother Wendel in Port Charlotte. Subsequently as his health challenges increased he moved into a skilled nursing facility whe he resided for several years until he departed this life on August 10, 2026 into eternal sleep. His memory lives on in the many lives he touched. He will forever be in our hearts. Rest in eternal peace brother.
