Decquetta Hairston

With heavy hearts and fond memories, we honor the life of Decquetta Hairston, who peacefully departed this world on August 18, 2026. Born on October 13, 1972, in Baltimore, Maryland, Decquetta was a beacon of warmth and generosity to all who knew her. Decquetta was the beloved daughter of the late Laverne and Howard Snowden, whose values of kindness and community she carried throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Cynthia Chambers and Patrice Snowden, her niece Roseland Johnson, and her cherished granddaughter Jhene' Rawlings. Though they have gone ahead, their spirits remain intertwined with hers, guiding her journey beyond. Decquetta's life was filled with love, laughter, and family. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Chaz Hairston, whom she met in Baltimore in 1998. Their love story blossomed, leading to a beautiful marriage on August 3, 2006. Together, they built a family rooted in love and resilience. Decquetta was a proud and nurturing mother to her children, William (Courtney) Rawlings, Rakeysha and Andria Mackall, Destiny Day, and Daqwasha Hairston. Her legacy continues through her 14 grandchildren—Kurt, Ka'Mya, Londyn, Jarrod, Daijour, Zyir, Tymel, Jace, Railey, Amouri, Janiya, Harmony, Jay'den, and Amir—who were the light of her life. Her siblings, Karl Chambers (Tracey), Kelly and Michelle Snowden, Davon and Brittney McNeil, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will forever cherish the memories of her laughter and the boundless love she shared. Decquetta was educated in the Baltimore City School System and later became a certified nursing assistant. Her career was diverse, ranging from a teacher's aide to a line worker in bakery warehouses, but her true calling was found in the medical field. As a nursing aide, she touched countless lives with her compassionate care and dedication. Outside of work, Decquetta found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved listening to music and surrounded herself with the warmth of family and friends. Her home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, where she delighted in joking and sharing stories with her children and grandchildren. Her kindness and generosity were unmatched, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Decquetta's spirit was one of resilience, love, and unwavering strength, qualities she imparted to all who had the privilege to know her. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we hold her close in our hearts, grateful for the time we shared and the love she bestowed. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding light to those she leaves behind.
