In Loving Memory

Debra Mungro
May 11, 1963 — October 3, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Debra Mungro, a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Debra was born on May 11, 1963, in Hickory, North Carolina, and her vibrant life came to a peaceful close on October 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Debra was the beloved daughter of Kenneth and Angie Mungro, who raised her to be the spirited and loving person we all knew. She was predeceased by her dear grandparents, Harvey Lee Mungro and Francis Little, as well as her nephew, Brandon Thompson, whom she held close to her heart.
A devoted mother, Debra is survived by her sons, Javaris Mungro and Anthony Mungro, and was the proud grandmother to Kasey Mungro and Anthony Mungro Jr. Her family extended to her loving sisters, Devinn and Jasmine Mungro, who were not just siblings but her closest friends. Her nieces and nephews, Breahna Thompson, Trenton Thompson, Zion Brewer, Zamaria Smith, and Zantario Smith, along with her great-nephew, Kayden Davis, will forever cherish her memory. Debra shared a special bond with her cousin, Rachael Young, whose companionship enriched her life.
Debra graduated from Harding High School, where she began to nurture the qualities that would define her character: a contagious smile, a bubbly attitude, and a comedic humor that could light up any room. She had a unique talent for bringing her family together, often around a table filled with her delicious cooking.
Her passions extended beyond her family; Debra loved the soulful melodies of jazz music, often seeking out live performances and bars to enjoy her favorite tunes. She delighted in trail riding, the freedom of the open road on her motorcycle, and the thrill of new destinations through travel. Debra found immense joy in sharing these adventures with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, creating lasting memories through laughter and love.
A private ceremony will be held on October 12, 2026, to honor Debra’s life and legacy. While the service will be intimate, her spirit and the warmth she shared with all will be remembered by many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in Debra's memory. Her life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and family, and it is her wish that this legacy continues to touch the lives of others.
Debra Mungro will be deeply missed but forever celebrated by those who were blessed to know her. Her spirit will live on in the stories we share, the laughter she inspired, and the love she gave so freely.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Debra Mungro welcomes donations to a charity, nonprofit, church, or organization of your choosing.
