Debra was surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home, just as she would have wished. Born on November 15, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, Debra's life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. Debra was the cherished daughter of John and Helenstine Gage. She is predeceased by her father, John, and her older brother, but is lovingly remembered by her mother, Helenstine, her devoted son, and her husband, David Redmond, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Debra attended the City College of Chicago, where she cultivated a passion for learning. Her career as an office manager at Citi Corp Bank and as a secretary at Emmanuel Baptist Church was marked by her exceptional organizational skills and her warm demeanor. Her colleagues and those she served were always met with her radiant smile and her willingness to help. Though she was not formally associated with any organizations, Debra's life was imbued with a spirit of service. She was known for her gregarious personality, always ready with a kind word or an offer of assistance to those in need. Her home was often filled with the comforting aromas of her cooking, and her love of reading was something she happily shared with others. A service to celebrate Debra's life will be held on November 1, 2026. The family invites all who knew and loved Debra to join them in remembering her remarkable life and the joy she brought to so many. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Debra's generous spirit and her belief in helping others.
