August 3, 1954 — March 6, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the peaceful passing of Debra "Dee" Ann Barber on March 6, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family. Born on August 3, 1954, in Wilmington, Delaware, Dee was a beacon of joy and warmth in the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. Dee was the cherished daughter of the late Loretta Fay Rowsey and James Betit. In 1970, she married the love of her life, David Kevin Barber, in a beautiful ceremony in Florida. Together, they shared 38 wonderful years, raising three children—Heather Barber, Anastasia (Brian) Seymour, and David (Amanda) Barber Jr.—and weaving a tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering support until David's passing. Throughout her life, Dee wore many hats, both professionally and personally. She took immense pride in owning her own business in the circuit board industry, yet she often said her true calling was being a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family was her world, and she found profound joy and fulfillment in nurturing and guiding them. Dee's spirit was one of boundless energy. She had a lifelong passion for dancing, and even as Alzheimer's disease took its toll, the rhythm and joy of music never left her. Her family will forever cherish the memory of her dancing, her legs moving to a tune only she could hear, even when her other faculties began to fade. Diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2017, Dee and her family embarked on a journey marked by love, patience, and the enduring strength of their bonds. Dee's warmth never waned, and despite the challenges, her blue eyes continued to light up any room, offering solace and love to all who visited her. Her family treasures these precious moments, holding them close alongside a lifetime of cherished memories. Dee leaves behind a legacy of love in her 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy. She is now reunited with her beloved David and her Best Friend Linda, where they shall dance together once more. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Halifax Hospice for their compassion and dedication during Dee's final months. They also wish to honor the tireless love and devotion of her daughters, Anastasia and Heather, who were unwavering in their care and support throughout her journey. In accordance with Dee's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. As we say our final goodbyes, we hold onto the love she shared, the lessons she taught, and the warmth of her smile that will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Dee. You are loved beyond measure and missed beyond words.
