Debra Bellinger Rawls

Whitesboro, New York — It is with heavy hearts but cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Debra Bellinger Rawls on June 30, 2026, at the age of 70, surrounded by her loving family and friends at her cherished home. Born on October 16, 1955, in Constableville, New York, Debra was the beloved daughter of Victor and Hazel Bellinger. She was blessed with a loving family and a vibrant community that enriched her life's journey. Debra attended Utica Free Academy, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering faith. In 1971, Debra married her high school sweetheart and embarked on a life of love and companionship. Later, in 1995, she married David Rawls, with whom she shared a beautiful partnership until his passing in December of 2005. Together, they owned and operated a successful electrical contractor business in Smyrna, North Carolina, for over a decade, serving their community with dedication and excellence. A devoted mother and grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Debra is survived by her sons, Dominick (Dallas), and Joseph, along with her daughter-in-law, Sarita. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Makayla, Nicholas, Mysun, Autumn, Joseph, and Haylee, and her great-grandchildren, Gianna and Theo, who brought immense joy to her life. So for that I have to say thank you… Makayla and Shakur McNeil. Debra's life was deeply enriched by her siblings, as she leaves behind her brothers James Bellinger and Robert Bellinger (and his wife, Terri), and her sisters Bonnie and Tammy. Her nieces Karri Loomis and Lisa Loomis, and her nephews Jeffrey Loomis and David Bellinger (and his wife, Lorena, and their daughter, Olivia) will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. Her cousin, Michael Bellinger, also holds her memory dear. A long-time member of Hope Alliance Church in New Hartford, New York, Debra found strength and solace in her faith. She moved to North Carolina in 1995, where she continued to inspire those around her with her steadfast devotion and selflessness. Known for her quick wit and warm smile, Debra had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel loved and valued. Her humor and love for life were infectious, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Debra's passions extended beyond her family and faith. She found joy in music, gardening, and the simple pleasure of watching old movies. She was an avid online Scrabble player and a fierce advocate for her beliefs, never shying away from standing up for what she deemed right. Her love for animals knew no bounds, and her home was always a welcoming place for dogs and cats alike. Preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Hazel Bellinger, her beloved husband, David Rawls, her brothers William and David, her son James, her grandson Cameron, and her nephew Christopher Bellinger, Debra's passing leaves a profound void. Yet, the love she shared and the memories she created will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. In honor of Debra's generous spirit and love for animals, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a local animal shelter or a charity of your choice.
