In Loving Memory

Debra Ann Hickman-Johnson
October 31, 1961 — May 21, 2026
It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved Debra Ann Hickman-Johnson, who departed this world on May 21, 2026, at the age of 64. Debra was born on October 31, 1961, in New York, NY, to Josephine Scott Hickman and the late Willie Hickman, Sr. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Debra grew up in the vibrant city of New York, where she attended Washington Irving High School. Her thirst for knowledge led her to LaGuardia Community College in Queens, NY, and later to the Caliber Training Institute Trade School, where she honed her skills in accounting and banking. Her career spanned over 25 years, during which she worked at various financial institutions, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to her profession. Unfortunately, her career was cut short when she became disabled in 2021, but she faced this challenge with the same strength and determination that defined her life.
Family was the cornerstone of Debra's existence. She cherished every moment spent with her children, Dallas Thomas, Anthony Thomas, Elijah Johnson, Crystal Thomas, and John Paul Thomas, and her five adored grandchildren. Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, love, and the comforting presence of family. Debra's life was a vivid tapestry woven with the bonds she shared with her siblings, Diane Scott, Gregory Scott, Barry Scott, Dawn Hickman, and Willie Hickman, Jr., and her beloved aunt, Julie Scott Russell, her mother's only surviving sibling.
Debra's passions extended beyond her family. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as a good movie or a leisurely shopping trip. Her phone conversations with family and friends, especially her sister Dawn, were filled with warmth and wisdom. Known for her no-nonsense demeanor, Debra was a person of integrity who valued loyalty and honesty above all else.
Her spirit will be celebrated on June 4, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the John Dormi and Sons Funeral Home, located at 1121 Morris Avenue, Bronx, NY 10461. We invite all who knew and loved Debra to join us in honoring her remarkable life.
Debra Ann Hickman-Johnson leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
