Deborah Zaleski

September 23, 1952 — April 6, 2026

Deborah Zaleski, affectionately known to many as Debbie, gracefully departed from this world on April 6, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on September 23, 1952, in the charming town of Southampton, New York, Debbie was a beacon of light and wisdom to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She passed away peacefully at her home, enveloped in the love of her family and friends, a fitting tribute to a life filled with profound connections and shared joys. Debbie was the cherished daughter of Harold and Barbara Zaleski, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her devoted partner of over 30 years, Bobby Joe Medlin, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of love and companionship. Together, they nurtured a family that brought them immense joy and pride. Her legacy continues through her beloved daughter, Addie Navas Olivera, and her treasured grandchildren, Isaiah, Haddessah, and Anastacia, who were the light of her life. Debbie was the beloved sister to Ronald, Michael, Denise, and Laurie, and a cherished extended family member to Jeremy and Beth Medlin. Her family was her world, and her love for them was palpable in every moment she spent with them. A lifelong learner, Debbie earned her Master's degree in Teaching from Coastal College. She dedicated several years to teaching at a local school, where she left an indelible mark on her students. However, her role as a teacher extended far beyond the classroom. Debbie was a mentor and sage to an extensive circle of friends, sharing her wisdom and nurturing their growth with her characteristic warmth and intellect. Her passion for learning and personal development led her to create a women's metaphysical group, which has gathered regularly since she moved to South Carolina over 30 years ago. Debbie was also an active member of Toastmasters and the Federation of the Blind, where she inspired many with her eloquence and determination. She was a vibrant participant in numerous book clubs, reflecting her love for reading and the written word. Her home was a testament to this passion, filled with books, notebooks, and drawings that chronicled her insatiable curiosity and creativity. Debbie's kindness, intelligence, and humor were her defining traits, endearing her to all who crossed her path. Her laughter was infectious, her counsel wise, and her spirit unyielding. Those who knew her will remember her as a guiding light, a source of comfort, and a cherished friend. A celebration of Debbie's life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at SeaCoast Church, located at 1500 Hwy 501 Business, Conway, SC 29526. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Debbie are warmly invited to join in honoring her remarkable life and legacy. In remembrance of Debbie, let us all strive to live with the same grace, kindness, and unyielding pursuit of knowledge that she exemplified throughout her life. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered, her spirit living on in the hearts of all who knew her.
