December 14, 1961 — March 20, 2026
In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Deborah "Niecey" Jarrett, who passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, after facing her health challenges with remarkable resilience. Born on December 14, 1961, in the heart of Nashville, TN, Niecey lived a life rich in love, legacy, and commitment to those she cherished most.
Deborah was the beloved wife of the late Melvin Jarrett, a soldier whose memory she held close, nurturing their timeless bond long after his passing. Together, they crafted a love story of profound depth and unwavering devotion—a testament to a partnership that transcended the bounds of time and space.
Niecey was predeceased by her devoted parents, Hazel and James Rhodes Sr., and her dear sisters, Lillian "Snookie" Buchanan and Willie "Jay Jay" Rhodes. Her spirit is carried forward by her surviving family: Elimra "Pie" Thomas (Bobby Thomas), Adrie "Mae" Rhodes, Linda Rhodes, James Rhodes Jr. (Shondalyn Rhodes), and Sharon "Bootie" Rhodes, along with a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
A proud graduate of Pearl High School, Niecey carved a niche for herself in the hospitality industry, where she worked as an elevator operator and cook. Her career was marked by her warm spirit and dedication, traits she carried into every role she embraced. Known for her "rough around the edges" charm, Niecey possessed a gentle spirit and fierce loyalty that endeared her to many.
Despite the trials of life, Niecey's heart remained open and her love unyielding. After the profound loss of her husband, she chose to fill her world not with emptiness, but with presence. She became the steadfast confidante, the one who remembered birthdays, cooked favorite meals, and ensured that everyone felt seen and valued. Grief may have softened her edges, but it also fortified her resolve to love more deeply and live more intentionally.
Her family was her greatest joy and her friends her constant companions. She showed up time and again, not out of obligation, but because it was what mattered most. Every laugh shared, every meal prepared, and every conversation held was a tribute to the life she had and the life she continued to embrace with fervor.
Deborah "Niecey" Jarrett's story is not defined by her losses but by the fierce love she continued to give. Her legacy is one of compassion, strength, and an unbreakable spirit—a legacy that will inspire all who knew her.
A celebration of Niecey's life will be held on April 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Smith Funeral Directors, located at 706 Monroe St, Nashville, TN 37208. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared their love, care, and support during this time.
In remembering Niecey, we honor a life well-lived and a love deeply felt, forever echoing in the hearts she touched.
