Deborah “Debbie” Banks Nimashaun, a beloved member of her community and cherished by her family, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on September 18, 2026. Born on December 8, 1963, in North Carolina, Debbie lived a life full of love, dedication, and compassion.
Debbie was the cherished daughter of George and Catherine Banks and grew up in a warm and loving household. She was predeceased by her father, George Banks, and her sister, LaWanda Banks. She is survived by her mother, Catherine Banks of Greensboro, NC, and her siblings: Michael Banks Sr. of Wilmington, NC; George Banks Jr. (Kathleen) of Kernersville, NC; Michelle Banks of Winston-Salem, NC; Effie Banks-Gibson (Charles) of Franklin Township, NJ; and Elizarea Banks-Martin of Bridgewater, NJ. Debbie’s legacy continues through her two sons, Michael Banks Jr. (LeGarria) of Greensboro, NC, and Everett Banks (Sabrina) of Los Angeles, CA. She was a proud grandmother to Aubrianna Banks, C’miya Banks, Melody Banks, and Logan Banks, and a beloved aunt to Trinity Banks, along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and close friends who will miss her dearly.
Debbie attended Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC, where she first discovered her passion for cosmetology. She pursued this interest by attending Wilford Academy in New Jersey. Though she spent a brief period working in the textile industry, her true calling was always in the beauty and care she provided to others.
An active member of TRUE SALVATION CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP, Debbie found joy and fulfillment in her faith and her community. Her hobbies included reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on September 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM at TRUE SALVATION CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP, located at 1901 Spencer St, Greensboro, NC 27401. Pallbearers honoring her memory will include Everett Banks, Michael Banks, Terrell Simms, Dexter Bellamy, and Tiquawn Hickman.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. They are particularly thankful for the kind expressions of sympathy, which have been a source of comfort. Debbie will be remembered for her warm spirit, her loving heart, and her unyielding dedication to her family and community. Her presence will be deeply missed but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
