Deborah Dawson Jarriel

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Deborah Dawson Jarriel, on April 26, 2026, at Piedmont Healthcare, after an extended illness. A gentle soul with a heart full of love, Deborah was born on May 24, 1953, in Augusta, Georgia, and spent her life enriching the lives of everyone around her. Deborah was the cherished daughter of the late Hugh Dawson and Bernice Todd Dawson. Her childhood was filled with laughter and joy, shared with her late brother, William Dawson. Though she faced the sorrow of losing her parents, brother, sister-in-law Mary DeLaigle, and grandsons Jordan Jarriel and Andrew Hutto, Deborah's spirit remained unbroken, fueled by the love she found in her family and friends. On May 4, 1985, Deborah married her devoted husband, James, with whom she shared 42 wonderful years. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, marked by mutual respect and unwavering support. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising their five children—Ashley Jarriel, Savannah Jarriel and her husband Josh, Boston Jarriel, Karen Bogle and her husband John, and Christina Hutto and her husband Brad. Deborah was immensely proud of her children, whose accomplishments and happiness brought her endless joy. Deborah's legacy is carried on by her six grandchildren, Trevor Bogle, Haydn Hutto, Matthew Hutto and his wife Sarrah, Evan Hutto and his wife Elora, Kimberly Hood and her husband Jonathan, and Sean Bogle. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, who filled her days with laughter and love. Deborah's nurturing spirit extended to her many nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She is survived by her loving sisters, Dianne Martin and her husband Larry, Karen King, and Phyllis Dawson, as well as her sister-in-law Brenda Jarriel and brothers-in-law Ricky Jarriel and his wife Diane, and Eddie Jarriel. Her family was her pride and joy, and she took great pleasure in hosting family gatherings, where her warmth and hospitality made everyone feel welcome. Deborah had a deep and unwavering faith that guided her throughout her life. She was a compassionate and dedicated member of her community, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her. A celebration of Deborah's life will be held on a date to be announced, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember her remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Deborah's name, to continue her legacy of kindness and generosity. Deborah Dawson Jarriel leaves behind a world that is richer for having known her, and her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in the laughter of her children, the smiles of her grandchildren, and the love that she shared so freely. Rest in peace, dear Deborah. You have left an indelible mark on our lives, and we will carry your love with us always.
