December 13, 1949 — May 5, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Deborah Ann Scanlon, who left this world peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on December 13, 1949, in Charlotte, Deborah was a beacon of kindness and warmth, touching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Deborah was the cherished daughter of Joe and Iris Haverty, who instilled in her the values of compassion and resilience. She shared a close-knit bond with her siblings: Angela Blackwood and husband Eddie, Kathy Drumm and husband Jimmy, and Joe Haverty and wife Amanda, all of Mount Holly. Her love for her numerous extended family members was evident in every gathering and holiday celebration, where her joyful spirit shone brightly. A proud alumna of Mount Holly High School, class of 1967, Deborah furthered her education at Kings Business College. She went on to dedicate her career to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, where her kind and wonderful personality left an indelible mark on countless students and colleagues. Her dedication to nurturing young minds reflected her belief in the power of education and community. Deborah's heart was as vast as her commitment to service, exemplified by her active involvement with the Blackcat 10 group for Vietnam Veterans. Her participation was a testament to her unwavering support for those who served and her gratitude for their sacrifices. Predeceased by her loving husband, Mark Francis Scanlon, Deborah's enduring love for him was a testament to their beautiful journey together. Her legacy of love and compassion continues to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. We invite you to join us in celebrating Deborah's life on May 12, 2026, at 5:00 PM at the Belmont Abbey Cemetery. As we gather to remember a life so beautifully lived, we take comfort in knowing that Deborah's spirit will continue to inspire kindness and warmth in the world. In honoring Deborah, we remember a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
