It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Deborah Ann Lacey, who departed this world on July 19, 2026, at the age of 74. Deborah passed away peacefully at home in Joplin, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family, after bravely battling cancer. Born on March 11, 1952, in Joplin, Missouri, Deborah was the cherished daughter of Virginia Margaret Liggett and Frederick Coyne Hatten. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Donald Hatten, and her sisters Regina Draper, Janet Hatten, and Jane Hatten. Her memory will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, John Lacey, her children, John Lacey Jr. and Whitney Lacey, and her four adoring grandchildren, Tucker Houston, Dylan Houston, Rylan Houston, and Greyson Norris, all of whom reside in Joplin, Missouri. Deborah was a proud alumna of Parkwood High School, where she forged lifelong friendships and began to hone her innate talents. Her passion for nurturing life extended beyond her family to the natural world around her. A true lover of plants and animals, Deborah dedicated countless hours to cultivating beautiful flowers and providing care and shelter to lost animals, often reuniting them with their families or helping them find new, loving homes. Known for her boundless generosity and selflessness, Deborah was a remarkable listener and always put the needs of others before her own. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she worked tirelessly to ensure they were well taken care of. Her unwavering devotion to her loved ones and her community was a testament to her kind and gentle spirit, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. The family will honor Deborah's life with a private funeral ceremony, as they reflect on her enduring legacy of love, compassion, and kindness. A celebration of her life will be arranged at a later date, allowing friends and family to gather and share in the joy she brought to their lives.
