Deborah Ann Jackson Wright, a long time resident of Baker, La was born on July 24, 1958, to Otis Jackson, Jr. and Elma Lee Jackson in Clinton, LA. She accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church. She was a 1976 Clinton High School graduate; and a 1980 graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, earning her Bachelor's of Science in Accounting. During her time at SLU, she pledged to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Lambda Omicron Chapter, in 1978—a testament to her commitment to sisterhood and service. Her professional journey was marked by dedication and loyalty. After graduating, Deborah worked at Southeastern Louisiana University for 11 years before joining her valued work family at Waste Management. She retired in 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and camaraderie. On May 28, 1988, Deborah married Louis Wright, Jr., in Hammond, Louisiana. Their union was blessed with the birth of their beloved daughter, Kayla, who was the apple of Deborah's eye and a testament to the partnership she shared with Louis. Deborah relished the simple joys of life. She had a passion for gardening, cooking, and shopping! She cherished time with family, coworkers, friends, and her beloved church family at Beech Grove Baptist Church, under the esteemed leadership of Pastor Gregory V. White. Her faith was unwavering, and she was actively involved in numerous ministries, including Sunday School, Sisterhood, Pastor's Aide, and Golden Age. She departed this world on April 19, 2026 after a courageous and inspiring battle with multiple myeloma. It was a battle she fought with unwavering faith in her awesome God, emerging victorious many times before her final journey home. She was predeceased by her beloved grandmother, Albertha O'Conner and father Otis Jackson, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving mother, Elma Lee Jackson; her devoted daughter, Kayla D. Wright, and "son", Jerome Miller, Jr.; her sister, Sharon(Terry) Parker; her brother, Ronnald(Karen)Jackson; her nephew, Mackenzie Parker; and goddaughter, Maria Anthony. She leaves behind a host of other relatives, church members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were forever enriched by her presence.
