Deborah Ann Brown

July 26, 1951 — June 24, 2026

It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Deborah Ann Brown, who departed this world on June 24, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. Born on July 26, 1951, in Houston, Texas, Deborah lived a life full of purpose, love, and dedication to those around her. Deborah was the cherished daughter of the late Augustus Sylvester Eder and Faith Constance Eder, whose values and compassion she carried forth throughout her life. She is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen Deering Brown, whom she married in 1979, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together. Her legacy continues through her devoted son, Craig Robert Brown, and her treasured granddaughters, Ashton Jade Brown and Emma Rae Brown, who filled her life with immeasurable joy. Deborah's educational journey began at Ursuline Academy, where she graduated in 1969, and continued with a Bachelor's Degree from the State University of New York. Her commitment to serving her country was evident in her distinguished military career, serving in the United States Army from June 1970 until her retirement in February 2000. As a Recruitment Officer and later a Chief Warrant Officer 3 at the US Army Personnel Command in Alexandria, Virginia, Deborah's service took her to Maryland, Virginia, Hawaii, and Turkey. Her leadership and dedication were further honed at the Army Management Staff College. Following her military career, Deborah continued to make a difference as a Membership Specialist at MERSCorp from March 2000 to March 2018. Her professional life was marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence and a genuine concern for the well-being of her colleagues. A woman of deep faith, Deborah was an active member of St. Mary of Sorrows Catholic Church in Fairfax, Virginia. Her angelic voice graced the Joyful Noise Choir and St. Mary's Choir, where she also served as a music cantor. She found great fulfillment in her roles as a wedding coordinator, religious educator, and religious music librarian, always eager to share her love for her faith and community. Deborah's spirit was as vibrant as it was kind. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was delving into military romance novels, indulging in her love for Chick-fil-A, or creating cherished memories with her family. Her ability to offer unwavering support and kindness to others was a testament to her character. Known for her devotion and generosity, Deborah never hesitated to lend a helping hand, always striving to make the world a better place. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all who supported them during this time. Special thanks to Mary Alice Dragone, a dear friend of the family, Home Health and Hair LLC, the neuro-oncology team at the White Oak Clinic at INOVA Schar Cancer Center, Goodwin Hospice, and the greater St. Mary's of Sorrows Church community for their compassion and care. Deborah Ann Brown leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith. While she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her. May she find eternal rest, reunited with her beloved parents, Augustus and Faith. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
