It is with profound sadness yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Deacon Fa’atupulagatafa’a Agata “Agatha” Lepule-Fio Fatu, who departed this world on April 22, 2026, at the age of 93. She passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Born on January 4, 1933, in the serene embrace of Tutuila, Eastern American Samoa, Agatha was the beloved daughter of the late Leofi’a and Tula Fio-Fatu. She was the youngest of her siblings, growing up in a family rich in culture and tradition, which she cherished and celebrated throughout her life. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Franklin Samate Lepule, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage that began in 1961 and spanned over five decades until his passing in 2018. Agatha was preceded in death by her parents, her cherished sisters Sulioni, Mafa’agata, Feaniumatalagaea, Fofolopita’ia “Fofo”, and Rosafua Rosalind Talia’anga, her beloved brothers Tafilele Pepe’epasifa Sr., Tuifanene Lepoa, and Silipa Totogi, and her dear sons Franklin Lepule-Fio Fatu Sr. and Savea Marshal Lepule-Fio Fatu. Her surviving family includes her loving sons Iutala Frank Lepule-Fio Fatu, Gagaga Heathrow Lepule-Fio Fatu, and Fa’atasi “Blu” Lepule-Fio Fatu, and her cherished daughters Sa’amona Leilani Leoleo and Peresi Pa’atilia Lesese. She is also survived by her sisters Fenesi Gatagata Monroe and Filipo Silipa Fatu, and her brother Tafa’tafa Fio-Fatu. Agatha’s legacy of love and kindness extends to her 43 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. A pillar of her community, Agatha served as an active Deacon of the First Congregational Samoan Community Church for an impressive 48 years. Her unwavering faith and dedication provided strength and guidance to many, and her involvement in the church was a testament to her deep spirituality and commitment to serving others. Agatha had a passion for singing and cooking, particularly relishing the preparation of traditional Samoan dishes. Her home was often filled with the joyful sounds of her singing, a melody that echoed the warmth and love she shared with everyone around her. Her culinary skills were celebrated at family gatherings, where her dishes were the centerpiece of laughter and togetherness. As we celebrate Agatha’s remarkable life, we remember her as a woman of strength, compassion, and grace. Her love for her family, her dedication to her faith, and her vibrant spirit will remain forever etched in our hearts. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends. A funeral service to honor Agatha’s life will be held at the First Congregational Samoan Community Church, with details to be announced. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared in Agatha’s journey and supported them during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Agatha’s memory to the First Congregational Samoan Community Church to continue the work she held so dear.
