Born on November 13, 1972, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dawn brought warmth, love, and joy to all who knew her. Dawn was the beloved daughter of Marjorie Garcia and the late Donald Wayne Oakgrove. She was deeply loved by her family, including her brothers Christopher Oakgrove of Bemidji, Minnesota, and Christian Oakgrove of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Wayne Oakgrove Sr., her sister, Connie Oakgrove, her brother, Donald Oakgrove Jr., and her nephews, Donald Raye Oakgrove and Jordan Cavness. A proud alumnus of the Minnesota School for the Deaf, Dawn embraced the world with an open heart and an adventurous spirit. Her deafness was never a barrier; instead, it was a part of her rich tapestry of life. Dawn was known for her outgoing nature and her ability to make friends with anyone she met. Her vivacious personality and her heartfelt laughter were a source of joy and inspiration to everyone she encountered. Dawn had a remarkable talent for cooking, and there was truly nothing she couldn’t make. Her kitchen was a place of creativity and love, where she shared her culinary gifts with family and friends. Her recipes and meals were not just about food—they were expressions of her love and care. A celebration of Dawn’s life will be held on August 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gichitwaa Kateri Native American Church, located at 3045 Park Ave, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55404. A wake will begin at 11:00 a.m. on August 24, followed by a ceremony on August 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Dawn’s generous spirit. Dawn’s legacy of kindness and resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family and friends.
