Dawn M. Cairelli
July 4, 1961 — March 11, 2026
Dawn M. Cairelli, a cherished mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at the age of 64 after a long illness. Born on July 4, 1961, in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, Dawn brought light and warmth to those around her, much like the fireworks that marked her birthday each year.
Dawn was the beloved daughter of the late Helen and Edward Danziger, whose loving guidance shaped her into the compassionate and caring person she became. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Curt Cairelli, with whom she shared endless love and laughter until his passing. Dawn was also preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Helen.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience through her surviving daughter, Rachael Rettinger, and her siblings, Robert, Debbie, Cindy (IZupello), Jimmy, Jeff, and David Danziger. Her numerous nieces and nephews also carry forward her spirit of joy and kindness, which she so generously shared with her family.
Dawn graduated from Carlynton High School in 1979, where she formed lifelong friendships and began to develop her love for life's simple pleasures. In 1981, she married Jeff Rettinger, with whom she shared the joy of raising their only child, Rachael. Later, in 1999, she married Curt Cairelli, finding a partner who matched her zest for life and warmth of spirit.
In 2012, Dawn earned her CNA license, a testament to her innate desire to care for others. Her career flourished at Elison Senior Living of Pinecrest, where she was known for her dedication, compassion, and the deep bonds she formed with her patients and coworkers. Her presence will be profoundly missed by the many colleagues and friends she made along the way, especially her dear nanny friend.
Dawn's life was enriched by her passions for good music, time spent with family and friends, and the companionship of her beloved pets. She found solace and joy in the serenity of a beach or pool day and could often be found cheering for her home team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, surrounded by good company.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Glendale House in Clearwater, FL. Their exceptional care and attentiveness ensured that Dawn was comforted and cared for during her final days, providing her with dignity and peace.
Dawn's departure from this world leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit endures in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be a beacon of warmth and light, guiding us to cherish each moment and hold our loved ones close.
