Davonta was the cherished son of Jennifer McCray, who survives him and carries forward his legacy of love and resilience. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Yvonne McCray, and his brother, Cortez A. McCray Jr., whose memories he held dear.
Davonta's life was a tapestry woven with the love of his family and friends. He was a devoted companion to Niesha Farrar, also known as Angela Farrar, who was not only his partner but his best friend and confidante. He was a proud and loving father to his two children, Davonta Armon McCray Jr. and Da'vajah Armoni McCray, with whom he cherished every moment spent bonding and creating lasting memories.
His family was his heart, and he leaves behind his mother, Jennifer McCray, his sisters Erica Washington, Kierra, Makya, and Anya, and his brothers Cornelius Washington, Lil Anthony, and Lil Tony. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandparents, Johnny McCray Sr., and Carol Singleton, and by his uncles Johnny, Cortez Armon McCray, and Byron, as well as his aunts Johnetta, Marlene, Jermesha McCray, and Stacy.
Davonta attended school in Mississippi, later graduating from Job Corps in St. Louis, MO. His determination and drive led him to embark on a career as a DSP worker at the Specialized Living Center, where his kindness and compassion made a lasting impact. Additionally, he worked as a forklift driver, embodying a strong work ethic and a commitment to providing for his family. At the time of his passing, Davonta had been accepted to CDL school, a testament to his ambition and desire to create a promising future.
Known for his infectious humor, Davonta had an innate ability to lift spirits with a well-timed joke. His gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued was a reflection of his generous spirit, and his kindness knew no bounds. Whether surrounded by family or acquaintances, Davonta's presence was a source of comfort and joy, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed his path.
Davonta's life, though far too brief, was filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to his family and friends.
