In Loving Memory

David Shaffer
September 15, 1992 — April 12, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved David Shaffer on April 12, 2026. Born on September 15, 1992, in Sturgis, Michigan, David left us unexpectedly while receiving care in the hospital for undiagnosed health conditions. He was just 33 years young.
David was the cherished son of David Shaffer Sr. and Brandy Robinson, who preceded him in death. He is also reunited in eternal rest with his precious son, Landon Ayers, who left us far too soon at the tender age of nine. Their reunion brings some solace to the family as they find comfort in the belief that they are together once more.
David spent his formative years in Sturgis, where he graduated from Sturgis High School, forging lifelong friendships and memories that would shape his future. Known for his boundless energy and free spirit, David often lent his hands and heart to his stepfather's construction company, always eager to help and learn.
Outside of work, David was passionate about fishing and hunting, finding peace and joy in the great outdoors. His love for music was evident to all who knew him, and he had an ear for melodies that spoke to his soul. An exceptional cook, David delighted in preparing meals for his family, bringing everyone together with his culinary creations.
David's warmth and infectious sense of humor left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him. His smile could light up a room, and his genuine, down-to-earth personality made him a joy to be around. Whether through a kind word or a shared laugh, David had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated.
A memorial service to honor David's life will be held at 11:00 AM on April 30, 2026, by the serene waters of Grey Lake in Sherman Township. The family extends a heartfelt invitation to all who knew David to join in celebrating his life. In keeping with David’s love for fishing, guests are encouraged to say their goodbyes with a quick cast and a small thought, as a tribute to his memory.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to everyone attending this service in memory of David. Your support and presence are a comfort during this difficult time, and we thank you for helping us honor a life so beautifully lived.
David Shaffer's legacy is one of love, laughter, and a profound appreciation for the simple joys in life. He leaves behind a community of family and friends enriched by his kindness and compassion. Though he is gone, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved him.
