In Loving Memory

David Scott Truax
September 30, 1973 — August 22, 2026
In loving memory of David Scott Truax, who departed from our lives too soon on August 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and profound joy. Born on September 30, 1973, in Cadillac, Michigan, David was a cherished son of the late Kenneth and Shirley Truax. He carried their warmth and kindness throughout his life, making a lasting impact on everyone he met.
David's life was a testament to the power of family and the joy that comes from shared moments. He was a devoted father to his children Brandy, Andrew (wife Paige), Jake (wife Kayla), and Bodhi, and a beloved "Grampy" to his nine grandchildren: Hayleigh, Lorielle, Kenny, Paisley, Natalie, Lane, Hudson, Rylan, and Lincoln. His family was his pride and joy, and he never hesitated to express how proud he was to be their dad and grandfather.
David shared his life with two wonderful partners, Jennifer Putman, with whom he had three children, and Laura Merritt, with whom he had one child. He was also a cherished brother to Keith Truax (wife Michelle) and uncle to his nieces, Elise Bajtka, Maddie Bergeron, and Ashley Rupert, and his nephews, Alex Truax and Zach Rupert. The bonds he formed with his extended family, including numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles were filled with love and mutual respect.
Professionally, David worked with dedication at Western Telcom, where he was responsible for locating lines. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for the hobbies he loved. David found joy in golfing, fishing, hunting, cooking, and making music with his best friend, Ray Otberg, and his brother, Keith. He was also an enthusiastic member of the Eagles in Interlochen, MI, where he built lasting friendships and shared countless memories.
David was known for his musical talent, his quick wit, and his ability to bring laughter to any gathering. He was the life of the party, always ready with a joke or a story. He loved his dog Milo and was a dedicated fan of Lions football. Above all, David will be remembered as a great dad and an awesome Grampy, whose love and laughter will be dearly missed.
A celebration of David's life will be held on September 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Eagles located at 20724 Honor Hwy, Interlochen, MI 49643. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the emergency medical personnel and to the Eagles for their unwavering support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made in David's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of generosity and love.
David Scott Truax's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May his soul find peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
