David Samuel Murray

November 2, 1946 — March 14, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of David Samuel Murray, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend. David left this world peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by the warmth of his family and the love he so generously shared throughout his lifetime. Born in the small town of Ferris, Texas, on November 2, 1946, David was the beloved son of David Murray and Margaret Lois Murray. His early years were spent in Ferris, where he graduated from Dunbar High School, setting the foundation for his future endeavors. In his youth, David possessed an innate curiosity and a keen sense of adventure, which led him to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force. David's journey through life was marked by dedication and resilience. Following his military service, he embarked on a career that showcased his versatility and entrepreneurial spirit. He worked at Southwest Wheel and later transitioned into a successful role as an insurance broker at American National/General. Eventually, David pursued his dreams of independence by becoming self-employed, a testament to his unyielding determination and work ethic. In 1971, David married the love of his life, Louise, and they shared a union that spanned over 30 years, built upon a foundation of love, respect, and unwavering partnership. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Corey Murray, who married Regina, and Tara Murray, who married Roy, creating a legacy that continues to flourish in their grandchildren—Crystal Dean, Timetra Goodson, Corey Murray Jr., and Brooklyn Murray—and his five great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. David's life was deeply enriched by his faith and community. As a devoted member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church for over two decades, he found solace and strength in his spiritual journey, and he cherished the bonds formed within his church family. David's generosity of spirit and kindness touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. Predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife Louise, and his siblings, Alfred Murray and Margie Cherry, David's memory will forever be cherished by his surviving sister, Mable Armstead, and his extended family. His legacy is one of love, integrity, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. A celebration of David's life will be held on March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1819 N. Washington Ave, Dallas, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the remarkable life of a man who truly made a difference in the world. As we say our final goodbyes, we hold close the lessons David imparted: love deeply, work diligently, and cherish each moment with those we hold dear. His spirit will forever guide us, and his memory will be eternally enshrined in our hearts.
