It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Richard Code, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on May 15, 2026, at the age of 76. David was born on September 22, 1949, in the quaint town of Mossbank, Saskatchewan, to Anne and Jim Code, who laid the foundation of a life that would touch many.
David's journey began in Langley, where he completed his high school education. Driven by an insatiable curiosity and a desire to make a difference, he pursued higher education at BCIT, specializing in Instrumentation Technology, and later at the University of British Columbia, where he proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. This educational path set the stage for a remarkable career in the Pulp and Paper industry, where David dedicated two decades. His entrepreneurial spirit then led him to establish Sunshine Automation Services. For over 32 years, David's expertise and dedication took him to various pulp mills around the globe, where his work was not just appreciated but revered. His final years were spent providing support to his cherished clients from the comfort of his home, leaving a legacy of kindness and professionalism.
In 1970, David married the love of his life, Linda Mowles, in Langley. Together, they crafted a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support, celebrating over 55 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with two children, Katherine and Stephen (Marissa), who carry forward David's spirit of kindness and integrity. David was also a cherished brother to his sister Shirley, and his family was always his greatest pride and joy.
David was a man of varied interests and passions. In his younger years, he found solace and adventure in fishing, a pastime that connected him with the natural world. As the years progressed, he developed a fondness for gardening and golf, pursuits that brought him peace and happiness. A man of community, David was a dedicated member of the Rotary Club, where he served as president in 2023, demonstrating his commitment to service and leadership.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the Palliative Home Care Nurses, Home Support Staff, and Drs. Dhawan, Hourigan, and McCall for their compassionate care during David's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, an organization close to David's heart.
David Richard Code was a beacon of warmth and wisdom, whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and community service. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit continues to inspire and guide his family and friends. May he rest in peace, knowing his life was well-lived and deeply cherished.
