David Paul Roberts

January 18, 1964 — April 24, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of David Paul Roberts, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. David departed this world on April 24, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on January 18, 1964, in Monroe, Connecticut, he left this life as he lived it—peacefully and surrounded by those who loved him dearly. David was the beloved son of Isabella Roberts and the late Hal Roberts. He is survived by his devoted mother, Isabella, his loving sister, Cheryl Lever, and his adoring nephew, Ben Lever. David was preceded in death by his father, Hal Roberts, with whom he is now reunited. As a young man, David walked the halls of Masuk High School in Monroe, Connecticut, where he graduated and began to lay the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and sincere friendships. His career as a mechanic spanned several Ford dealerships, where his skillful hands and keen mind earned him many lifelong friends. These friendships were a source of immense strength and support during his courageous journey through a lung transplant. In the later years of his career, David found fulfillment working at Wolfspeed, where his mechanical talents were not only appreciated but celebrated. His colleagues remember him as a man of integrity and dedication, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. David's passions extended beyond the professional world. He was a shooting sports enthusiast, finding joy and camaraderie in the precision and challenge of the sport. His love for driving classic cars was a testament to his appreciation for craftsmanship and history, and his cherished vehicles were often seen gleaming in the driveway, a symbol of his love for the open road and the simple pleasure of a well-tuned engine. Those who knew David understood his deep compassion and generosity, which extended to all creatures great and small. In lieu of flowers, his family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to Safe Haven for Cats, an organization that held a special place in David's heart. Contributions can be made at https://www.safehavenforcats.org/. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the transplant staff at Duke University Hospital, as well as the nurses and specialists who accompanied David on his journey down what he fondly called "Shakedown Street." Their dedication and care brought comfort and hope to David and his loved ones during challenging times. David Paul Roberts leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and an unyielding zest for life. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate a life that, while cut short, was filled with love, laughter, and the joy of treasured relationships. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. A private service will be held for family and close friends to honor David's life and memory. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit and love will continue to guide and inspire us all. Rest in peace, David. Your journey here may have ended, but your story will be told for generations to come.
