It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Dave Neddeau, who departed this world on May 11, 2026, at the age of 81. Dave passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the comforting presence of his beloved family. His life was a testament to strength, resilience, and an indomitable spirit that inspired all who knew him.
Dave was born on October 18, 1944, in the charming town of Waterville, Maine, and was raised in a home filled with love and values by his grandparents, John and Ola Doherty. After graduating from Fairfield High School, Dave embarked on a journey that would see him become a cherished member of his community and a beloved patriarch of his family.
In a life defined by adventure and a passion for the great outdoors, Dave owned and operated Magic Falls Rafting, a white water rafting company that brought joy and excitement to countless adventurers. Dave guided many down the river, sharing not just his expertise but his infectious love for nature and life. His dedication to his work was only surpassed by his devotion to the people who worked alongside him. Until the age of 79, he shared his zest for life with anyone fortunate enough to join him on the rapids.
Dave's passions extended beyond the business he built. During the winter months, he found joy in the simple pleasures of riding his electric bike in the warm Florida sun and casting a line into peaceful waters, fishing with patience and hope. But above all, Dave's greatest joy was his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating a legacy of love and togetherness that will endure for generations.
Dave is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Donna (Patnaude) Neddeau, whose unwavering support and love were the cornerstone of his life. Together, they built a family that has grown and flourished, leaving an indelible mark on the world. His daughters, Dawn (Neddeau) O'Connor and her partner Winfield Newell, and Susan (Neddeau) and her husband Rich Garling, were his pride and joy. He found immense happiness in the laughter and love of his grandchildren, Ryan O'Connor, River, and Sadie Garling, and his great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Emily, Ivy, and Ruby O'Connor, and Aries and Lincoln Garling.
Dave was predeceased by dear family members, grandparents John and Ola Doherty, his sister, Lisa Parker, and his uncle Robert Doherty, whose memories he cherished and honored throughout his life.
Dave's journey through life was marked by the deep and abiding connections he forged with family, friends, and community. His legacy is one of kindness, adventure, and love—a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide those who knew and loved him.
As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we find comfort in knowing that Dave's spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of those he touched. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held at a later date, where stories, laughter, and tears will be shared in remembrance of an extraordinary man who lived an extraordinary life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David's honor to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and love for helping others.
