December 5, 1954 — April 29, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of David May on April 29, 2026. Born on December 5, 1954, in the warm embrace of Toomsboro, Georgia, David's journey through life was marked by kindness, laughter, and an unwavering love for those around him. David was the cherished son of Christine Coney and Euqene May, who predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his beloved brother, Michael May, and his dear son, Randy May. Though their absence was deeply felt, David found comfort and strength in the enduring connection he shared with his surviving family. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Tamara May, David Jr. May, and Markeith May, who continue to carry forward his spirit of generosity and warmth. His two grandchildren, Makia Jones and Zuri Clark, brought immense joy and pride to David, filling his days with laughter and love. David's life was enriched by the companionship of his siblings: Stephanie Lewis, George Barlow (married to Stephanie Barlow), Larry May (married to Willa May), Grayling May, Bernard May, and Charlene Pitts. His extended family included a cherished uncle, James Barlow, whose presence was a constant source of support. David was a beacon of humor and warmth, known for his infectious smile, heartfelt hugs, and lighthearted jokes that could brighten the darkest of days. His love for dressing up and shopping for clothes and shoes was legendary, and he often said that a good outfit was the perfect expression of one's soul. He was also an exceptional cook, delighting family and friends with meals prepared with love and care. A proud graduate of Wilkinson County High School in 1974, David went on to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978. His service was a testament to his dedication and commitment to the ideals he held dear. David's life was enriched by the love and friendship of Stanley Reeves, Melvin Brantley, Victor Devereux, and Rudolph Ray, who stood by him through life's many seasons. A service to celebrate David's remarkable life will be held on May 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Whipple and Allen Funeral Home, located at 132 Manson Street, Toomsboro, GA. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by David are invited to join in honoring his memory. In the words of the family, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul." - Psalm 23:1-3. As we mourn the loss of David, we find solace in knowing that God saw his tiredness and, in His infinite mercy, embraced him with open arms, whispering, "Come to me." David May's spirit will continue to guide us, his love will forever nurture us, and his legacy will remain a testament to a life filled with kindness, generosity, and boundless love. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories and the laughter, knowing that his essence will forever dwell in the hearts of those who loved him.
