December 5, 1954 — April 29, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt respect that we announce the passing of our beloved David May, who departed this life on April 29, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on December 5, 1954, in the close-knit community of Toomsboro, Georgia, David was a beacon of love, strength, and warmth to all who knew him. He was the cherished son of the late Christine Coney and Euqene May, whose spirits he is now reunited with in blessed eternity. David's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to family, friends, and community. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Michael May, and his dear son Randy May, whose memories he carried with him every day. David leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving children, Tamara May, David Jr. May, and Markeith May, who were the light of his life and his greatest pride. He is also survived by his siblings George Barlow, Stephanie Lewis, Larry May, Grayling May, Bernard May, and Charlene Pitts, along with his treasured grandchildren, Makia Jones and Zuri Clark, who brought him immense joy and laughter. David's journey through life was enriched by the bonds he formed with an extended family and a circle of friends who were like family to him. He is fondly remembered by his surviving Uncle James Barlow, as well as his closest friends, Stanley Reeves, Melvin Brantley, Victor Devereux, and Rudolph Ray, who shared in his life's many adventures. A proud alumnus of Wilkinson County High School, David graduated in 1974, leaving a lasting impression on both his teachers and peers. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978, where he demonstrated exceptional courage and commitment. David's passions were as vibrant as his spirit. He loved dressing up, shopping for clothes and shoes, and had an impeccable sense of style that was matched only by his culinary skills. His kitchen was a gathering place for family and friends, where laughter and stories were shared over meals lovingly prepared by his hands. A service to celebrate David's life will be held on May 11, 2026, at 12:45 PM at Whipped and Allen Funeral Home in Toomsboro, Georgia. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor a life well-lived and to share in the memories that will forever warm our hearts. In the words of the family, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.” - Psalm 23:1-3. As we mourn the loss of David, we find solace in knowing that God saw his tiredness and, in His infinite mercy, embraced him with open arms, whispering, "Come to Me." David May's spirit will continue to guide us, his love will forever nurture us, and his legacy will remain a testament to a life filled with kindness, generosity, and boundless love.
