It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of David "Max" Gregory, who peacefully departed this world on March 2, 2026, after a courageous battle with dementia. Born on November 5, 1938, in Drummond, Oklahoma, Max's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. Max was the cherished son of Nathan Gregory and Eunice Jane Johnson (Webb), who have predeceased him, along with his brothers, Ted and Dan Gregory, and sister, Geneva. Though they have passed, their memories live on in the stories and laughter Max shared with everyone who knew him. Max's life was a testament to the power of love, having shared 48 wonderful years with his devoted wife, Marsha Lavon Gregory, whom he married in 1978. Together, they built a beautiful blended family, embracing each moment with warmth and devotion. Max is survived by his loving children: son Mark Gregory, daughter Renee Olson and son-in-law Kevin Olson, stepdaughters Kim Owens and Amy Freeman, and son-in-law Rick Freeman. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren, Hayley Olson, Greg Olson and wife Chloe Olson, and Michaela Owens, and great-grandson, Jude Olson, who brought endless joy to his life. Education was a cornerstone of Max's life, beginning with his graduation from Crescent High School in 1956. He pursued higher learning with vigor, earning a bachelor's degree from Central State College in 1960, and completing medical school at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in 1965. Max dedicated his career to the healing arts, practicing as a respected gastroenterologist at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City for many years. His patients found in him not just a doctor, but a compassionate caregiver whose kindness and generosity knew no bounds. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Max was a man of diverse talents and passions. He found joy in music, often creating personalized cassettes and CDs brimming with love and the year's top hits for those around him. His creativity knew no limits, manifesting in exquisite woodworking projects and stunning photography that captured the essence of nature, including the orchids he lovingly cultivated. A true historian at heart, Max delved deeply into genealogy, tracing family histories with meticulous care, ensuring that the stories of past generations would not be forgotten. Max's life was illuminated by his quick wit and warm smile, qualities that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence brightened rooms and uplifted spirits, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of family, friends, and patients alike. A service to celebrate Max's remarkable life will be held on March 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, located at 8701 Northwest Expy, Oklahoma City, OK 73162. It is in this gathering that we will honor his memory, cherishing the moments we shared and the love that will forever bind us together. As we say goodbye to Max, let us carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering commitment to family and community. In his memory, may we all strive to live with the same warmth and generosity that he embodied every day of his life.
