David Matthew Spears

July 1, 1993 — April 10, 2026

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of David Matthew Spears, affectionately known to many as "DJ," who left this world too soon on April 10, 2026, at the age of 32. David was born on July 1, 1993, in Hanford, California, and brought immense joy and laughter to all who knew him. David was the cherished son of Carmen Mendoza of Waxahachie, Texas, and Dave Spears of Porterville, California. His early years were filled with the warmth and love of his family, and he grew up surrounded by the vibrant energy of his siblings, Stephanie Garcia (and husband Adrian Garcia), Johnny Staggs (and wife Linda Staggs), and Justin Staggs (and wife Amber Staggs). His legacy is lovingly carried forward by his children, Aaliyah Alexa Spears and David Brycen Spears, who will continue to embody his spirit and zest for life. A devoted father, son, brother, and friend, David was a man of many talents and passions. With an unyielding dedication to his craft, David worked as a skilled diesel mechanic for Dart Container, where his expertise left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike. However, it was his love for engines that truly fueled his soul. A self-proclaimed "gear head," David found joy in working on anything with an engine, especially two strokes. His weekends were often spent reveling in the thrill of drag racing and Nascar, passions that he shared with enthusiastic camaraderie. David's affection for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Chevrolet vehicles painted him as a man who appreciated both the beauty of mechanics and the freedom of the open road. His laughter and presence will be profoundly missed at family gatherings, where his stories about racing and engines filled the air with excitement and awe. David leaves behind a family that adored him and a community that cherished his warmth and generosity. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward the memories of their beloved uncle. The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate David's life on May 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Boze-Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel, located at 511 W Main St., Waxahachie, TX 75165. The service will be a time to honor and remember the vibrant life of a man who touched so many hearts. As we gather to say our final goodbyes, we hold close a special message from David's family: "Forever in our hearts." Though he is no longer with us, the impact of David Matthew Spears's life will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the hum of engines and the roar of the racetrack that he so dearly loved.
