David Lee Panzer Sr

David (Dave) Lee Panzer Sr., a cherished father, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, while walking his beloved dog, Sasha. Born on December 12, 1944, in Crookston, Minnesota, Dave was the beloved son of Albert and Kathleen (Longmuir) Panzer. He was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Daves's life was a tapestry of dedication and service. He proudly served in the Army National Guard of Minnesota for a decade, where his commitment to his country was a source of immense pride. Following his military service, Dave devoted over 18 years of his career as a Certified Law Enforcement Officer, further dedicating his skills in Risk/Asset Management - Loss Prevention, before transitioning to a role as a local security officer in his retirement years. In September of 1966, Dave united in marriage with Joyce (McDaniel), and together they were blessed with two wonderful children, David Jr. and RaeAnn. The family shared countless memories, enriched by Dave's quick wit and his extraordinary ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. Later in life, Dave found companionship with Betty Winkler, his devoted partner of 23 years. An avid outdoorsman, Dave's love for fishing was well-known. He was the proud owner of Double "D" Guide Service, where he shared his passion for walleye fishing with many. His friends and family will fondly remember his infectious smile and the warmth of his loving heart. Dave is survived by his cherished partner, Betty Winkler; his children, David (Patty) Panzer and RaeAnn (Joe) VanGundy; and his treasured grandchildren, Miranda Panzer, Danyal VanGundy, Anna VanGundy, and Jalyn (Joel) Mylin. His family and loved ones will miss him deeply but take comfort in the beautiful memories they created together. A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 10, 2026, from 4:00- 7:00 PM at the AmericInn, located at 312 Island Dr., Fort Pierre, SD. As we remember Dave, his family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown during this difficult time. They find solace in knowing that Dave's smile and loving heart will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
