David Lee Mohler
February 3, 1937 — February 8, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Lee Mohler, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on February 8, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on February 3, 1937, in the picturesque landscapes of Colorado, David was the cherished son of the late Bernard and Evelyn Mohler.
David's journey was marked by remarkable achievements, unwavering dedication, and an indelible impact on those around him. He began his education at Greeley Central High School in Greeley, Colorado, before pursuing his passion for animals at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. His love for animals became a lifelong vocation, and alongside his devoted wife, Patricia Anne, he ran a thriving veterinary practice in Fairfax, California, for 40 years. David's gentle demeanor and genuine care endeared him to countless pets and their families, forging connections that lasted long beyond office visits.
In 1956, David answered the call of duty, serving his country with honor in the United States Navy until 1962. As a Navy pilot, he soared to the rank of Lieutenant, piloting the formidable F3H Demon, a testament to his skill and bravery.
On November 21, 1959, David married the love of his life, Patricia Anne. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Their 66-year marriage was a testament to their devotion and partnership, enriched by their shared love for travel, skiing, and golf. They raised two wonderful children, David Scott and Amy Nichelini, and played significant roles in the upbringing of their three cherished grandchildren Jessica Nichelini Fraser (Jason), Dante Nichelini and Sean Mohler. He was anxiously anticipating the birth of his first great grandchild in April.
David was a man of diverse interests and passions. An avid golfer, he spent countless hours on the greens, especially in his retirement years. His love for sports extended to tennis, skiing, and fishing, pursuits he enjoyed with friends and family alike. David's community was enriched by his active participation in various organizations. As a dedicated member of the Sierra Veterinary Medical Association, he served as President, and his leadership extended to the Rotary Club International, where he also held the role of President. His love for golf found a home at the Meadow Club, a private golf club in Fairfax, California, where he was a beloved member.
David's legacy lives on through his surviving family: his devoted wife, Patricia; his children, David Scott and Amy Nichelini, and her husband Rick; his sister, Marilyn Damico; his brother, Tim, and his wife, Judy; and his three adored grandchildren. His parents, Bernard and Evelyn, predeceased him, welcoming him into eternal rest.
David Lee Mohler's life was a tapestry woven with love, service, and joy. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and warmth that will be cherished by all who were fortunate to know him. In celebrating his life, we honor a man whose gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched many.
A memorial service to honor David's life will be held at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery located at 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA on June 22nd at 10:30 am followed by a celebration of life at Paradise Valley Estates at 2600 Estates Drive, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (Breakthrough T1D), reflecting David's lifelong commitment to helping others.
May he rest in peace, forever remembered and forever loved.
