It is with hearts full of love, admiration, and deep respect that we celebrate the life of David Lawrence Olson, who passed peacefully on May 13, 2026, at Cape Cod Hospital, surrounded by the warmth of family, after a sudden ruptured aneurysm. Born on January 11, 1941, in Everett, Massachusetts, David graced this world with his infectious smile and kind-hearted nature for 85 remarkable years. David was the beloved son of Lawrence G. Olson and Josephine J. Pearson, who instilled in him values of integrity, kindness, and perseverance. He was predeceased by his cherished parents and his brother, Richard, with whom he shared a deep bond. A proud graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1958, David answered the call to serve his country, joining the U.S. Army later that year. Stationed in Italy, he served with honor until a training accident led to a broken leg and an honorable discharge in 1961. His service was a testament to his dedication and willingness to put others before himself. David found his calling as a laboratory technician with American Optical, which ignited his passion for optics. By 1975, he realized his dream of opening his own successful business, Op-Tech, Inc., in West Bridgewater. As a licensed optician, he served his community with dedication until his retirement in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and excellence. On March 24, 1962, in Essex, Massachusetts, David married the love of his life, Phyllis Helen Roscoe. Together they built a life grounded in love and mutual respect, celebrating 64 years of marriage. Their union blessed them with four wonderful children: William L. Olson (Mary Jane Pereira), David S. Olson (Missy Litos), Eric J. Olson (Maria Mastracci), and Kristin H. Olson (Bobby Desreuisseau). David was a devoted father, a guiding light for his children, and a source of unwavering support. A grandfather seven times over, David cherished every moment with his grandchildren: Emily, Sarah, Timothy, Molly, Bret, Alexandra, and Samantha. He was equally proud of his great-grandchildren, Edith, Sadie, and Chip, whose laughter and joy brought him immense happiness. David was a man of many talents, a true DIY enthusiast who excelled as a woodworker, a novice plumber, and a part-time mechanic. His hands skillfully crafted projects that were more than just objects; they were symbols of his love and care for those around him. He relished playing golf, especially during the summer league with friends and on Thanksgiving mornings with his sons, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, David had a unique ability to lighten any mood with a joke or a kind word. His presence made those around him feel instantly comfortable and valued, a testament to his generous spirit and loving heart. David's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cape Cod Hospital for their compassionate care during his final days. Their support and kindness will always be remembered. A celebration of David's life will be held on June 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Venue Name in Eastham, MA. Friends and loved ones are invited to join in honoring a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in David's memory to a charity of your choice, as a reflection of his giving nature. David Lawrence Olson's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit, wisdom, and warmth will continue to guide and inspire us all.
