It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of David Lamar Hill, who peacefully departed this life on May 23, 2026, at the age of 86. David was born on January 15, 1940, in the charming town of Albany, Georgia, to the late Emmie and Dave Hill. David's life was one of dedication, service, and deep love for his family and community. He answered the call of duty by serving in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1974, where he proudly achieved the rank of Sergeant. During his service, he was stationed in Germany for two years and was honored with the Army Commendation Medal for his meritorious service, reflecting his commitment and valor. David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June Hill, his cherished parents, Emmie and Dave, and his sons, Nathan Dennis and Tommy Johnson, whose memories he carried tenderly in his heart. Despite the profound losses he faced, David was a pillar of strength to those around him, always embodying resilience and hope. David is survived by his devoted children, son Jerome Harlis, son Nathanael Harlis, and daughter Lisa Harlis. His legacy continues through his treasured grandchildren, Ashley Dennis, Andrea Dennis, Adrian Dennis, Sarah Porter, and Tammy Smith. The joy of his great-grandchildren, numbering twelve, was a constant source of happiness and pride for David. As a family man, David was a source of wisdom and encouragement. His laughter, stories of old, and gentle heart left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He exemplified the virtues of kindness and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of advice. David's life will be celebrated at a service on June 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Williams Memorial C.M.E Church, located at 646 Northwest 13th Terrace, Fort Lauderdale, 33311. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by David are warmly invited to attend and share in the remembrance of his remarkable journey. In honoring David's life, we remember a man who lived with integrity, loved unconditionally, and served his country and family with unwavering dedication. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David's memory to a veterans' charity of your choice, continuing his legacy of service and care for others. Rest in peace, dear David, in the embrace of the angels and in the hearts of your loved ones.
