David Joynes, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on August 2, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa, David was a beacon of joy and laughter, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege to know him. David was the beloved son of Fred and Leota Joynes, who preceded him in death, along with his siblings Jack, Clifford, and Carolyn Joynes, and his dear niece Shasta Sapp. Despite these profound losses, David’s spirit remained resilient and vibrant, as he carried forward the legacy of love and laughter that defined his family. David's life was a testament to the power of family and the joy of simple pleasures. He is survived by his loving children, Brandy Ritchie and her husband Michael, Savannah, and Jordan Joynes, as well as his honorary daughters, Heidi and Mia. He adored his grandson, Ronnie Bates, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. David’s siblings, Robert (Bobby) Joynes, Ramon Joynes, Linda Sapp, and Ramona Joynes, will continue to honor his memory, along with his many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who were touched by his kindness and humor. Known for his infectious laughter and quick wit, David had a unique gift for brightening even the darkest of days. Whether he was engaged in lively conversations or enjoying his favorite shows, like wrestling and "Snapped," David's presence was always a source of comfort and joy. His unwavering love for his children was evident to all, as he constantly sought to create moments of happiness and connection. David's legacy of love and laughter will live on through the many lives he touched. His family finds solace in the memories they created together and the lessons he imparted. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David's memory to his family, to continue spreading the love and kindness he embodied throughout his life. David Joynes will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace, knowing that his spirit of joy and laughter will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved him.
