David J. Minnie
July 12, 1945 – July 4, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David J. Minnie, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. David left this world peacefully on July 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, in Brooksville, Florida.
Born on July 12, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland, David was the cherished son of the late Louis V. Minnie Sr. and Hazel G. Minnie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Louis V. Minnie Jr., but his legacy lives on through his surviving family and the countless lives he touched.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Nancy Minnie, who remained by his side through the many seasons of their lives together. He was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Deborah Erickson, and her husband, Ray, and his son, Joseph Minnie. David’s grandchildren—Jonathan, Jessica, Jesse, and Zachary—were his pride and joy, and he delighted in his role as a great-grandfather to Jalen Ray Andrews. He also leaves behind his brothers, Donald and Patrick, his sister, Marilyn Minnie, and his Christian brother, Jerry Price, all of whom he held dearly.
David spent his career as an esteemed automotive and heavy-duty diesel truck mechanic at Minnie's Auto Repair, a family business he helped establish in Hernando County in 1963. With a humble spirit and a skilled hand, he dedicated his life to serving his community, ensuring their vehicles ran smoothly and safely. His work ethic and passion for auto repair were matched only by his kindness and willingness to help others. He loved working along side his son Joseph who helped him daily at the garage. He had many customers who were dear friends as well.
Beyond his career, David found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid gardener, golfer, and a culinary artist in his own right—especially known for his delicious fruit cakes that graced many holiday tables. Time spent in his garden or on the golf course was only rivaled by the moments he cherished with his family, especially his great-grandson, Jalen, who brought him immense happiness.
The Minnie family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brooksville Healthcare Center for the compassionate care they provided to David in his final days. Their kindness and dedication were a source of comfort to the family.
David J. Minnie will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his work, and his community. His legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
