It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Hood Morris, cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. David left this world on June 3, 2026, in the comforting embrace of his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Born on September 13, 1945, in the warm embrace of Gadsden, Alabama, David was the beloved son of Trowel and Zue Morris. He grew up with a deep appreciation for family values, a legacy he carried forward throughout his life. Predeceased by his loving parents, David now joins them in eternal peace.
David was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sarah, sharing a remarkable 50 years of marriage filled with companionship, love, and countless shared moments. Together, they built a life that was a testament to their unwavering commitment to each other and their family.
A proud father, David leaves behind his sons, Swane (Jennifer) Morris, Barry Yancy, and Paul Yancy, who are forever grateful for the wisdom, guidance, and unconditional love he provided. He was a doting grandfather to Baylee (Caleb) Browning, Dixon Morris, and Caleb Yancy, and a treasured great-grandfather to blank Yancy and Tripp Browning. The love he shared with his family was boundless, and his legacy lives on through them.
David dedicated 30 years of his life to Goodyear Tire and Rubber, where he was known for his dedication, hard work, and camaraderie with his colleagues. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for his hobbies and interests.
An avid enthusiast of auto-body repair, David spent over five decades in the garage he lovingly built behind his home. There, he passed on his skills and passion to both his children and grandchildren, leaving behind not only repaired cars but also treasured memories. He relished coaching baseball for his sons' teams, finding joy in the spirit of the game and the camaraderie it brought.
David was also a dedicated hunter and fisherman, cherishing the moments spent in the great outdoors with family and friends. Noccalula Hunting Club held a special place in his heart, where he forged lasting memories and friendships.
David found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly the moments spent at home with friends and family. He delighted in watching the world go by from his porch, a gentle smile on his face and a heart full of gratitude. Feeding hummingbirds each year became a cherished tradition, which he shared with Sarah, marveling at the delicate beauty of these tiny creatures.
A service to celebrate David's extraordinary life will be held on June 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Collier Butly. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a man whose kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to a charity of your choice in memory of David Hood Morris.
Though David's physical presence is no longer with us, the love, joy, and kindness he shared will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of his family and the countless lives he touched along his journey.
