With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved David Hawkins, who left this world on June 19, 2026, at the age of 54. Born on June 4, 1972, in Toledo, Ohio, David was a cherished son to Carlene Betley and the late Robert Hawkins, and a beacon of light to all who knew him. David, affectionately known as Dave, grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and the timeless melodies of rock-n-roll, a genre that resonated deeply with his soul. His early years were marked by a nurturing family environment, shared with his brother, Joe Hawkins, and later enriched by the supportive presence of his stepfather, the late Mark Betley. In 1991, Dave proudly graduated from Ganado High School in Ganado, Arizona, where he first cultivated his lifelong love for the open plains and the rich cultural tapestry of the Navajo Reservation. Here, Dave spent much of his life, forming enduring friendships and weaving himself into the fabric of the community with his infectious smile and unwavering kindness. Dave's life was a testament to the power of compassion and generosity. He never met a stranger, only friends yet to be made, and his welcoming nature ensured that everyone felt valued and seen in his presence. His gentle heart extended beyond human connections to his beloved dogs, who were not merely pets but treasured family members. In addition to his love for music, Dave found joy in collecting model cars and watching old westerns, hobbies that brought him immense pleasure and relaxation. These simple joys reflected his appreciation for the nostalgic and the timeless—qualities that defined him as a person. David leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his devoted mother, Carlene Betley (Wynn); his brother, Joe Hawkins, and sister-in-law, Ella; his nephews, Kieran Hawkins, who has a daughter, Lorraine; George Greer; and Robert Hawkins; and his niece, Sarah Greer. Each of them carries a piece of Dave's spirit, a testament to the profound impact he had on their lives. Though he is no longer with us, Dave's legacy lives on in the hearts he touched, the love he shared, and the laughter he inspired. As we gather in a private ceremony to celebrate his life, we hold onto the countless memories that enrich our lives and remind us of the gentle, kind soul that blessed us with his presence.
