It is with deep sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of David Edward Best, who departed this world on October 4th, 2026, in the comforting presence of his parents and one of his siblings. Born on May 11th, 2002, in Bristol, Tennessee, David was a beacon of joy, resilience, and love, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. David was the beloved son of Bill and Taunya Best, who, alongside his siblings—Daniel Best, Billy Best, John Best, and Cecelia Meade—were the center of his world. Despite the challenges he faced due to his diagnosis of Holoprosencephaly and Cerebral Palsy, David lived a life filled with love, happiness, and a spirit that inspired all. Throughout his 24 years, David's life was a testament to the power of family, care, and compassion. His parents’ unwavering dedication and the exceptional care from his favorite family doctor allowed him to surpass his initial life expectancy of just a few months. David's sweet smile and his unique kisses, shared with a little tongue sticking out, were cherished by all who knew him. His fondness for his father was evident, as he found comfort each night falling asleep in his father’s arms. David's charm was not limited to his family; he had a soft spot for blonde ladies, whom he would flirt with tenderly, bringing smiles to their faces. He found joy in the company of his siblings, nephews, and nieces, and his presence brought light and laughter to family gatherings. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to David's care and well-being, particularly Dr. Grunstra, Dr. John Vance, and his cherished nurse Emily. Special thanks are given to his devoted older brother Daniel, whose daily care and companionship were invaluable.
