David Carrillo

October 13, 1960 — June 15, 2026

October 13, 1960 - June 15, 2026 David Carrillo, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on June 15, 2026, after a courageous three-year battle with illness. Born in the close-knit town of Ulysses, Kansas, on October 13, 1960, David's life was a testament to resilience, love, and generosity. David spent 44 enriching years with his devoted wife, Patricia Carrillo, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Their union was a beacon of love and companionship, a partnership filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support. Together, they built a family that became the heartbeat of David’s life. David was the proud father of Larry Heron and Shawnda Hawkins, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. His grandchildren, Darrian Stephens, Tristin Heron, Shayla Torress and her husband Vincent, Madycin Davidson and her husband Christian, Kylee Carrillo, Ashlyn Heron, and Ridgley Watson, were his pride and joy. These cherished relationships extended to his five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense happiness and fulfillment. For over 30 years, David was "married" to his work, a career he embraced with passion and dedication. His colleagues were like family, and he was known as the life of the party wherever he went. David’s generous spirit was legendary; he was always ready to lend a hand, offering his last dollar or the shirt off his back to anyone in need. David's love for fast cars and motorcycles was passed down to his son, Larry, a shared passion that bonded them uniquely. Whether he was racing down the open road or tinkering in the garage, David found joy and freedom in these pursuits, and they will forever be a cherished part of his memory. In honoring David's wishes, there will be no formal funeral or service. Instead, his family invites all who knew and loved him to gather in celebration of his life. Raise a glass, share stories, and remember the joy he brought into the world. David was a private person, who preferred intimate moments over grand gestures, a trait not all knew about him. His family kindly asks that his wishes for a joyful remembrance be respected. David Carrillo’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering generosity. Though he has left this world, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we celebrate his life, we are reminded of the indelible mark he made on all of us—his family, his friends, and his community. In lieu of a traditional farewell, let us honor David by living life as he did: with kindness, generosity, and an ever-present sense of adventure.
