David Billase George McLeod

July 7, 1988 — August 3, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Billase George McLeod, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend. Born on July 7, 1988, in the vibrant town of Montego Bay, Jamaica, David's journey through life was marked by kindness, laughter, and an enduring spirit that touched everyone he met. He passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, leaving behind an indelible legacy of love and generosity. David was the cherished son of Annette and the late David Billase McLeod and was predeceased by his twin, as well as his grandfather, Ledon George McLeod. He is survived by his beloved child, Rodane, who carries forward David's legacy with pride and love. His siblings, Roxanne, Roanne, and Nigel Jr., along with his mother Annette, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends, mourn the loss of a man who was the heart of their family. David's educational journey began at Hartfield Basic School in Salt Spring, followed by Salt Spring All Age School. His academic pursuits took him to Cambridge High School before he ventured to the United States, where he graduated from Evander Child High School in Bronx, New York, in 2006. His career was a testament to his industrious spirit and versatility. As a serial entrepreneur, David's talents spanned carpentry, masonry, painting, and tourism, where he found joy in sharing the beauty of Jamaica as a resourceful tour guide. A devoted member of the Salt Spring Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Lilliput Seventh Day Adventist Church, David's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was known for his quick wit and laid-back demeanor, often brightening the day with a well-timed joke. His carpentry skills extended to a love for creating jewelry and souvenirs, while his green thumb produced a bounty of ground provisions and vegetables, which he generously shared with neighbors. David's love for the sea was as vast as the ocean itself; he found peace in fishing and delight in swimming by the seaside. His kindness and ability to make others feel valued left a lasting impact on countless lives, a testament to his integrity and generous heart. A service to celebrate David's life will be held on November 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Bottom Road Seventh Day Adventist Church in Salt Spring, St. James, Jamaica. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Salt Spring SDA Church Building Fund in David's memory. As we gather to honor David's life, we remember the words of Bob Marley, which echo the essence of his character: "The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively." David's greatness was indeed in his capacity to touch lives with love and laughter, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
