David Atlee Tissue
January 25, 1938 — April 27, 2026
David Atlee Tissue, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, departed this world peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on January 25, 1938, in the charming town of Morgantown, West Virginia, David was the cherished son of the late Ross Tissue and Agnes Bigam. His life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a commitment to his family and community.
In 1955, with a sense of duty and adventure, David enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor from 1956 to 1958. This experience instilled in him a profound respect for service and camaraderie, values he carried throughout his life.
David's professional journey led him to the world of finance, where he distinguished himself with integrity and dedication. He began his career at Union Commerce Bank in Cleveland, Ohio, and later transitioned to become a salesman at Prescott Ball and Turben. His expertise and leadership shone as he took on the role of Syndicate Manager, guiding the company through its evolution into Kemper Securities and eventually Everen Securities, until his well-earned retirement in 1999.
A man of many passions, David was an active and proud member of various organizations. His commitment to community was evident in his involvement with the Westlake, Ohio Kiwanis Club, the Cleveland Athletic Club, and Westwood Country Club in Rocky River, Ohio. Later in life, David and his devoted wife, Susan, found joy and companionship as members of their local Elks Club in Atascadero, California.
David's love for the water was legendary, and some of his fondest memories were crafted on the decks of his fishing boats, navigating the serene waters of Lake Erie. With a fishing rod in one hand and a cold beer in the other, he cherished these moments of tranquility and camaraderie. Winters in the Florida Keys offered him the same pleasures under the warm sun.
An avid sports enthusiast, David's passion was not limited to spectatorship. Whether on the softball diamond with his "Over the Hill Gang" or coaching his daughter, Heather, and her friends in the Ponytail League, he imparted his love for the game and the spirit of teamwork. His knowledge of baseball, football, golf, basketball, and NASCAR was expansive, and he delighted in sharing it with others through spirited discussions.
David was known for his quick wit and an ever-present warm smile. His presence was marked by a sense of style, often seen in his well-coordinated outfits of pressed shirts, creased jeans, and spotless white bucks. A well-read man, he relished engaging conversations and was never one to shy away from a good debate, whether he agreed with you or not.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, Ross Tissue and Agnes Bigam, his dear sisters, Donna Jean O'Malley and Elizabeth Gilbert, and his nephew, Michael O'Malley. David is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Susan Jump Tissue, his son Gregory LePera and daughter-in-law Denise Pensante LePera, his daughter Heather Tissue, and his cherished granddaughters, Carly Jump Stevenson and Miranda Susan Stevenson.

As we celebrate his life, we find comfort in the memories he leaves behind—memories that will continue to inspire us and bring us joy. His journey was one of fulfillment and grace, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
