It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Anthony Brown Sr., who departed this life on May 10, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on April 22, 1963, in Chicago, IL, David was the cherished son of Gloria Jean and the late Lacy Brown. He was a beloved father, partner, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
David's life was a testament to his love for animals and his dedication to those around him. Educated at Frank L. Under the mentorship of his dear friend Dr. Gerald Brown, David honed his skills in veterinary medicine and animal husbandry, making a significant impact in the lives of countless animals and their owners.
A man of many talents, David was also an avid music lover and dancer, known for his affection for stepping and house music. He delighted in DJing parties and spent innumerable hours curating playlists of his favorite songs, sharing his joy of music with everyone around him. His quick wit and warm smile were ever-present, as was his gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who crossed his path.
David is survived by his beloved mother, Gloria J. Brown; his partner Theresa Lewis, his children, David Anthony Brown Jr., Diamond Brown, and Chelsea Brown; his brother, Kevin Brown; sisters, Victoria Brown and Tenille Brown; brother LaRone Brown; grandchildren Lailah and Noah; and numerous cousins including Shawntaye and Miquel Davis, as well as the extended Davis family. He was predeceased by his father, Lacy Brown, his sister, Cathy Brown, and his aunt Betty Young, uncles, Wallace Jr, Michael, and Timothy Davis, cousing Pamela Davis and Dante Jemison.
In addition to his family, David leaves behind his partner of ten years, Theresa Lewis, and his cherished furry friend, Boomer, affectionately known as "Dooda." His legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will continue to live on through them.
A service to honor and celebrate David's life will be held on May 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM at McCullough Funeral and Cremation Services, located at 851 E. 75th St. Chicago, IL 60619. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to friends and loved ones for their support during this difficult time.
"We wish to thank family and friends for supporting us through this very difficult time. John 10:28: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Isaiah 26:3-4: Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself is the Rock eternal."
As we remember David, let us honor his memory by embodying the kindness and warmth he so freely shared with the world. Rest in peace, dear David. You will forever be in our hearts.
