David Andrew Gann Jr.
April 4, 1960 — July 5, 2026
David Andrew Gann Jr., a devoted husband, loving family man, and proud veteran, peacefully departed this world on July 5, 2026, at the age of 66, surrounded by his beloved wife Sandra and cherished pets, Franky and Balla, in the comfort of their home.
Born on April 4, 1960, in Graham, Texas, David was the cherished son of David Andrew Gann Sr. and Naoma Frances Lowrance Gann. He was raised with strong values, a love for family, and a dedication to service, which he carried throughout his life.
David's journey began in Graham, where he graduated from Graham High School in 1979. Driven by a sense of duty and adventure, he joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1979 to 1984 as a Law Enforcement Specialist. His service took him to Vance AFB, Oklahoma, RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge, and Kadena AB, Okinawa, before concluding at George AFB, California. His time in the Air Force was marked by courage and commitment, even as he faced the challenge of Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which he battled valiantly after his military service.
David's career was as diverse and vibrant as his character. Known as a "jack of all trades," he found his true calling working with cattle and horses. For seven years, he dedicated himself to the J4 Ranch in Morgan Mill, Texas. Later, he brought his expertise to Texas A&M AgriLife Research, where he served as a Cattle Manager, leaving an indelible mark on the Department of Animal Science and the McGregor Research Center.
An active member of his community, David was a Life Member of The Disabled American Veterans and proudly served as a 27-year member of the American Legion. At the time of his passing, he was the 13th District, 1st Division, Dept of Texas Judge Advocate, embodying his lifelong commitment to service and justice.
David was a man of warmth, known for his quick wit and remarkable sense of humor. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all, brightening every room with his laughter and kindness.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Sandra Marie Hatfield Gann, whom he married on February 25, 1987, in Graham, Texas. He also leaves behind his beloved step-daughter, Caral Marie Birdwell Waterson, step-son, Jason Charles Birdwell, and granddaughter, Cheyanne Marie Nunez, along with one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his father, David Andrew Gann Sr., and his sister, Donna May Gann.
In honor of David's generous spirit and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
David Andrew Gann Jr.'s legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
