David Alan McKee, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on September 6, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas, David was the beloved son of the late William and Frances (Hussey) McKee. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Shirley Novotny and Bertha May Kinsey, his brothers William Ray McKee and Donald McKee, and his nephew Wesley McKee.
David's life was a testament to his dedication to family, service, and his passions. After graduating high school, David chose to serve his country by joining the Army, where he earned several commendations for his service. His time in the military was marked by a deep sense of duty and honor, qualities he carried throughout his life.
Following his service, David pursued a career as a mechanical engineer, a field in which he excelled due to his keen intellect and problem-solving skills. His work was not just a job, but a passion, and he made lasting impacts in the industry through his innovative ideas and dedication.
David's life was rich with family and friendships. He is survived by his three loving children: Cary (Britany) McKee, Clinton (Alyssa) McKee, and Sarah (Craig) Letsinger. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two, roles he cherished dearly. David also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss his warm presence and generous spirit.
A true enthusiast of life, David had a wide array of interests. He was an avid fisherman, often spending serene mornings by the water with his line cast under the open sky. His love for the open road was evident in his passion for Harley motorcycles, a hobby that brought him joy and camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts. David also enjoyed the simple pleasure of gathering with friends at the local coffee shop, where laughter and stories flowed as freely as the coffee.
David's love for nature was reflected in his fondness for camping, a pastime he often shared with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His devotion to his family and friends was unwavering, and his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A service to honor David's life will be held on his birthday, September 6, 2026, at Hood United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of their choice, in memory of David's generous and compassionate spirit.
