Dasan Robert Murry

January 5, 2000 — April 27, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dasan Robert Murry, who left us on April 27, 2026, at the tender age of 26, after bravely facing a battle with stage 4 esophageal cancer. Dasan passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and friends, in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Born on January 5, 2000, Dasan was a cherished son to Denise and Reginald. He was a beacon of light in their lives and a beloved brother to Dyami, Dyson, and Dahmino, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. Dasan was also the proud grandson of Robert, his devoted grandfather who survives him, the cherished nephew of Diondrea-Timeko and Daniel-Michelle, and the godson of Sheronda and Latisha. Dasan was predeceased by his grandmothers, Fannie May, Lennie Ruth, Mary Ruth, and Eloise, as well as his grandfathers, Marshall, Walter, and Nathaniel, and his uncle, Douglas. Their love and legacy lived on in Dasan, who carried their spirit with him throughout his life. A proud graduate of Bremen High School, Dasan was not only a dedicated student but also an enthusiastic football player. He carried this dedication into his professional life, working with diligence and integrity at Raising Cane's, Chick-fil-A, and most recently, Amazon. Dasan was known for his strong work ethic and his commitment to taking care of business, no matter the challenge. Deeply rooted in his faith, Dasan was born and raised in Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ at an early age. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life and served as a source of comfort and strength for him and his family. Dasan had a passion for cooking, an art that he practiced with all his heart. Whether he was cooking for himself or for an army, he poured love into every dish. He found joy in gathering with family and friends, always the life of the party and the glue that held his loved ones together. His dog, Zeus, was his faithful companion, sharing in his adventures and quiet moments alike. In his free time, Dasan enjoyed the thrill of fast cars and the immersive world of his Playstation 5, where he could often be found with a smile on his face, enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Though known for his fiery spirit, Dasan was a man of immense warmth and kindness. His loyalty to his family and friends was unwavering, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. He was a friend to many, a brother to more than just his siblings, and a beloved member of an extended family that included step-brothers and sisters, close cousins, and countless friends. Dasan's journey may have ended too soon, but his legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we say goodbye to our dear Dasan, we hold onto the memories that bring us comfort and the love that will never fade. In honoring Dasan's life, his family shares a special message: "Ecclesiastes 3:2 - A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to harvest." This verse speaks to the seasons of life, and in Dasan's time with us, he planted seeds of love and kindness that will continue to grow in the hearts of all who knew him. A Special Thankyou to Advocate South Suburban & Christ Hospital for their compassion, specialized care, and support during such a difficult time! Words cannot express our gratitude for the exceptional care you gave Dasan!
